Position: Floral Studio Assistant

As a Studio Assistant at Something’s Blooming, you’ll support the creative director with studio operations, event prep, and day-of-event assistance. This role is perfect for someone who’s artistic, efficient at multitasking, has a great memory, and values attention to detail. Whether you have floral design experience or are eager to learn a new craft, this position offers exciting opportunities for growth and creativity!
Qualifications:
- Previous event industry experience is a plus but not required
- Floral design knowledge is preferred, but we’re happy to train the right candidate
- Artistic or creative, with a strong eye for design, composition, and color
- Reliable, honest, and a self-starter who takes initiative
- Organized and cleanliness-oriented
- Thrives under pressure and enjoys multitasking
- Comfortable working on ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Flexible schedule, early riser, and team player
- Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team environment
Job Duties Include:
- Creating studio and event timelines
- Managing and organizing studio and storage inventory
- Prepping all items for events
- Cleaning and maintaining the studio and storage spaces
- Assisting with in-studio design meetings and updating proposals in our floral software (training provided)
- Floral design for weddings and events (training available!)
- Event-day assistance, including managing timelines, problem-solving, and co-leading a team.
- Leading events when the creative director is at another event or unavailable (at a higher, predetermined rate).
- Occasional early morning trips to the Downtown Los Angeles Flower Mart
- Taking initiative to identify tasks and streamline workflows
- Organizing multi-event weeks
Pay and Perks:
- Pay: $25–$30/hr. based on experience
- Unlimited Nespresso and beverages, and occasional meals/snacks

- Training on floral installations, bouquet design, and centerpiece composition—worth thousands of dollars in free education!
- Access to a library of tutorials
- First refusal to Lead the other events when the creative director is unavailable
- Additional hours (at different rates) for tasks like studio reset, deliveries, and flower processing
Important Notes:
- Hours vary depending on the season:
- Peak wedding season = more consistent, full-time hours
- Slower months = part-time hours, depending on the studio calendar
- This role can be physically demanding during design weeks
- Be ready for some fun! (Musical theater soundtracks are a studio staple.)
- You may occasionally drive a U-Haul or similar vehicle
- Asking for a one year commitment
- To be considered for this position, if you are currently freelancing with others, this studio and our events would have to be your priority
